8/10 Clinton Staff review, 26 April 2013

Roughly translating as ‘analogue is better’, this is made in Hamburg, mastered in Leeds, yet sounding like a warm take on Detroit techno. Thats three towns/cities named so far in this review. Heres another...Blackburn. Home to a Pizza Hut and Ewood Park but otherwise nothing to do with this release.

The 12” is an antidote to the much more harsh dynamically challenging Quicksails album I reviewed earlier in that it’s warm, soft and concentrates on 4/4 rhythms, bloopy synths...the opening track ‘An Einem Donnerstag in September’ is full of undulating long synth drones and blippy beats, whilst the title track is a clipped ‘80s inflected slice of gorgeous washy techno.
