Some super-lo-fi garage pop from way back in the ‘70s on this here 7” from Mike Rep and the Quotas. They’ve got a repetitive guitar riff, a beat which seems to just only use a snare and a cymbal, and of course Rep’s ranting. I’ve just realised that was the B side (the sides are mislabelled) but I ain’t starting this review again. It’s not what Mike Rep would have wanted.

Anyway, that B side is the pretty crappy ‘G-L-O-R-I-A’ from ‘78, and on the A there’s ‘It’s My Movie’ which has a slightly bigger sound and some strangely soulful vocals that make it sound like Led Zeppelin getting drunk at their first practice and accidentally leaving the tape player running while the lazily plod through some power pop classic of the time. To be honest I’m finding this pretty hard work but I suppose it’s interesting on an historical level if nothing else since this guy was a bit of a lo-fi pioneer. Not convinced this is really his best work though.
