It's pop brilliance, it's musical majesty, it's freaking Kishi Bashi. 2012's album of the year (in my mind) is Kauro Ishibashi's 151a, with violin reminiscent of Andrew Bird, vocals as heavenly as Sigur Ros and hooks as catchy as of Montreal this album is sugar for the ears. "Intro/Pathos Pathos" introduced me to what would soon become one of my favourite artists, it's glorious harmonies and larger than life feel catapults you into the sonic brilliance that is 151a. With songs built on a foundation of vocal and violin loops, sprawling bass and impressive falsetto one can not help but form a calm smile on at least one of the 9 songs on this amazing solo debut.
