Here’s a delightfully understated CD of delightfully silky and soothing future-drift with elements of ‘90s electro acoustic IDM type stuff from Akamatsu, which is like a gentler and more fluid take on early Warp style glitch-pop experimentalism. Soft synths glide delicately around clicky, detailed beats which bring to mind Fourtet and Plaid while sinewy twinklescapes invade our senses.
It’s tranquil and often quite cinematic-sounding stuff, bringing to mind recent ‘90s-drenched efforts from Russia on the Sealt label from people like Dirty Owl and Sleepy Town Manufacture, but with modern elements of slow-drifting minimalism and a deft ear for insidious, unobtrusive hooks and therapeutic, intuitive melodic patterns. Very nice indeed.
