Ooooooh, this is good. So nice when something unexpectedly good comes in. From the same label that brought us the excellent Triptides 7”s (no better guitar pop album than Triptides’ of late, mark my words). This is similarly in thrall to your classic ‘60s pop magicians. ‘Hurt My Pride’ is a slice of reverbed Rolling Stones via Brian Jonestown Massacre via, oooh, something from the late ‘80s that I just can’t place...but I’m liking the B sides even better.

‘Someone Like The Hawk’ is the best track here - a Byrdsian slab of 60’s jangle with a melody that recalls Rodriguez...oh...’Crucify Your Mind’ I think it is. Anyway think of all the times The Byrds covered Dylan and you are close. The final track features the drumbeat from The Rolling Stones’ ‘Get off of my Cloud’ with a much more mid-’60s r’n’b beat group appeal.
