First thing’s first, ‘Cruise Your Illusion’ is a stellar name for a record, one of those goofy but cool slacker puns you wish you’d thought of first, and I’m loving the sleeve design for this LP too, looking like some long-lost ‘70s outsider hard rock gem complete with a newsprint insert where the band photo makes them look like burned-out ‘80s metallers who’ve grown up and got office jobs.

When it comes to the record itself, the music they’re playing is also more than a little inspired by the 1970s, with bands like Cream, Hawkwind and the MC5 being audible in their loose and scrappy overdriven groove-rock. There’s a slight country-rock feel in places, with shades of Skynyrd and an utterly unashamed debt to Neil Young & Crazy Horse - certainly the band they resemble most closely! In fact the resemblance is such that I’m pretty confident in saying that if you like NY&CH and don’t care how original a band is, you will love this. Basically what we’ve got here is warm, casual and classic-sounding rock with a pleasantly loose and personable delivery. Really likeable stuff well suited to sunny days on the park with a dog and a frisbee.
