Here’s an excellent CD of good old fashioned ‘60s influenced girl fronted indie rock in the vein of Best Coast or Golden Grrrls. This sort of garagey girl-group influenced pop all too often seems flabby, referential and stale, but these sisters have really got something special I think. They chuck out a dozen instantly infectious power pop numbers here, maintaining high charm levels simply by having the good sense to keep the songs brief and the hooks simple and constant.

Earnest vocal harmonies, full-sounding reverbed guitar jangle and a lovely slacker pace make for a warm and woozy bit of summer indie which brings to mind the excellent recent Triptides album - strangely familiar, unashamedly catchy and deceptively casual pop anthems which have a louche sweetness to them, sometimes heading into an early ‘90s dreampop direction to good effect, like the Cocteaus/Lush shimmer of ‘Dead In Your Head’. Ultimately, though, these are just well written and confidently delivered pop songs with plenty of catchy hooks, nostalgic reverb and summery bounce. I imagine it’d appeal to fans of Buke & Gase, Tegan & Sara, Best Coast, The History of Apple Pie, etc.
