The Besnard Lakes are back this week with their fourth album of impeccably polished epic dreampop, eight cinematic tracks of slow-drifting emotional cinematic indie rock which reminds me of Sigur Ros crossed with The National, with hints of My Bloody Valentine, Low, Candy Claws and Ennio Morricone.
It’s beautifully measured stuff, chiming and drifting its way across your senses with a richly layered density that’s never overwhelming. While it’s not exactly my cup of tea I can’t deny that it’s very slickly and carefully done and fans of the above mentioned bands will probably find it quite magical.
