Say what you like about the new Strokes album (and many people have) the sleeve art is pretty damn nice with its (admittedly in vogue) pictures of old analogue tape boxes and reels. I half heartedly reviewed the album last week so I won’t keep you from your ironing for too long save to say I thought this was the stand out from the album, certainly the most Strokes-y of all the tracks many of which veered into a kind of ‘80s haze. This is a short sharp pop attack, albeit with a chorus tacked on seemingly tacked on by a record exec with a vague idea of what the first Strokes album sounded like.

On the flip you get ‘Fast Animals’ which is also on the album. If you’d played this to anyone around the time of ‘Is This It?’ and told them that in a decade or so this is what The Strokes would sound like, they’d have probably eaten you. It’s an odd combination of sub-Passion Pit ‘80s scat vocals and that familiar Strokes strum, the latter of which just...just saves it.
