Call me old fashioned, but I can’t help but feel like if you’re going to call your band “Casual Sex”, the music should have some edge to it, some sleaze! That’s not really what’s happening on this latest 7” from the Moshi Moshi singles club, which sees a band with that name dropping a number which sounds like Let’s Wrestle knocking out a particularly nonchalant Ian Dury cover.

Flip it over and things go a bit krautrock on ‘Soft School’, which is without question an improvement. If this track was instrumental it would be a cool little bit of neokraut but I do wish the singer would shut up. He does his best David Bowie impression on this one, making it sound like a track which didn’t quite make it onto Sir Dave’s latest opus, or maybe a Psychedelic Furs B-side. The cheeky band name and Clowes-aping sleeve art sucked me in but musically this is disappointing.

9/10 James Barker Customer review, 28th March 2014

Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy. From the opening ascending flange guitar to the fuzz breakdowns between verses this is art pop at its best, accessible but playful. Pleasingly warm crooned vocals sit on top of a laid back almost pastoral post punk soundtrack. The lyrics are knowingly suggestive and the sound is round, what's not to like.
