Victim of Love was the second studio album by the Screaming Eagle of Soul Charles Bradley. Following the success of debut No Time For Dreaming, Bradley produced a more varied work which contained several tracks which you would swear were from the golden age of soul music. His raw and emotional singing style has seen Bradley compared to Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett and James Brown - the man Bradley had previously earned a living impersonating before his late flowering success.

There is real joy in the passage of Charles Bradley from the struggling street existence to recording star. Victim of Love sits formally in the 10 year old tradition of this stable and is full of that classic authentic soul which regularly re-emerges when other music forms plummet and bore. From start to finish this album is quite a bit different than the debut. The production of the entire album is a lot cleaner-sounding much more in keeping with the early 70's production ethic than the creakier late 60's style of his first release.
