We’ve got some more sevens in from the ever-reliable Great Pop Supplement this week, and the one I’ve got to talk about is this effort from Wirral duo Two Sunsets which comes in a superbly psychedelic die-cut sleeve along with a postcard instructing the listener that the record should be played loud.

Anyway, what’s happening on the B side (I realised too late that I played the wrong song first) is a catchy little psychedelic garage pop number with bright organ, breathy vocals and loads of reverb and vibrato all over everything giving it a similar dreamy sheen to that excellent recent Maston album, but with more of overt pop side too, which is strangely reminding me a little bit of Theme Park on this song. Over on the A side, ‘Venetian Skies’ is a gorgeous light-as-a-feather summer ballad which brings to mind Real Estate, Triptides and Tim Burgess’s excellent recent solo effort. It has a real classic sound to it which is borne out by a silky barrage of to-die-for hooks. Excellent single!
