A re-issue of the 1964 album from the old master in which he uses the old tunes he learnt as a teenager as a basis to make new and thrilling shapes from his guitar. This album shows Fahey as an artist in transformation and only hints at what was to come later. Essential re-issue on 180 gram vinyl from the folks and the trustworthy 4 Men with Beards stable.

9/10 Jack Customer review, 19th December 2015
There is great guitar work on this album, both finger-picking and slide. this album on the surface has a laid back sitting on the porch quality, but the more I listen to it, the more I hear a foreboding dark quality to the playing. It's not the highest quality sound since it was recorded on the fly in the '60's. This is one of the best of a unique and special guitarist. John Fahey should be noted not just for his formidable skill, but his love and appreciation for American musical lore. His contribution is without equal as he is part exceptional musician, part historian, part educator.
