9/10 Thomas Sloan- Customer review, 9th November 2014

Lower Plenty are made up of various Aussie indie scenesters, who when not playing in sweaty, postpunky Melbourne clubs are apparently sitting on the porch and jamming out the most salubrious and rickety of lofi pop tunes. In fact, this 'back porch' aesthetic is writ-large over this album, all creaks, echoes and wistfulness...it's wonderful - the only drawback being that it is over far too quickly.

Surely 2013's most charming album, plaintive girl vocals (her of Dick Diver) duet with the colloquial male mumbles of the other singer, over thumb-strummed acoustic guitars and occasional guitar scrawls. There are songs of loneliness, strange beasts and melancholy drives to Adelaide to warm the cockles as the nights draw in. 2014 has seen them pop out another album, but it is if anything too ramshackle, especially in comparison to this tight-knit set.

The vinyl version comes with the band's first album on a second piece of vinyl, which sweetens the deal immeasurably. A must-have for any fan of the ever-awesome antipodean indie underground.
