Cosmic explorers Bitchin Bajas, the other band of CAVE’s Cooper Crain and Mahjongg’s Dan Quinlivan, are back with a lengthy new 12” EP containing two side-long passages of shimmering kosmische and motorik electrokraut, clocking in at almost 40 minutes in total, which in my mind makes this more of an album than EP, but hey, it says “EP” on the spine and the artist knows best!

Whatever it is, these jams are tasty! The first half of side A has some gently swelling arpeggios and synth drones, all smooth and hypnotic and spacey, before some krauty programmed drums come in and things get a bit more euphoric, with powerful upbeat synth melodies and indulgent layers of drone and twinkle. Unashamedly krauty repeato synth fun.

Flip it and the second piece opens with some queasy modular loops, more awkward than the celestial arpeggiating on the first side, repeating away into infinity as they subtly shift against one another. Once again this track takes a sharp turn about halfway through with the loops dropping off and a krauty beat coming in, this time joined by some bright, almost chiptunesy synth lines which pump mechanically away to themselves building up an upbeat head of steam that’s pretty infectious. Ace 12”, I don’t expect these to stick around for long!
