7/10 Penrith Steve Customer review, 2nd November 2014

This is a bit of odd one. My first impressions were that they sounded like Status Quo. Those thoughts were quickly banished however. This is more messy, more punk (Despite it being from 1973 and there being an 11-minute long song) and better than the Quo. “Flash” is a great opener and there is some real raw rock ‘n’ roll on here “Mama Don’t Get Me Wrong” and “Won’t You Make Up Your Mind” which are good, because they’re short and to the point.

There are two-and-bit minutes of self-indulgent blues noodling on “B.P.R.” and a 6-minute cover of “Whole Lotta Shakin” that I can’t be bothered with but “Human Being” and the album’s highlight “Look What Mama Said” are good. The latter was covered by Stephen Malkmus as a live b-side for his “Jenny & The Ess Dog” single. That was my route to this and it may have biased me in favour of it. I don’t know anymore! The whole album isn’t brilliant but it certainly rocks and it’s worth a listen.
