I wonder why this 12” plays at 33rpm...and why have they not told anyone? At any point did someone not think that a 33rpm anywhere on the artwork might be useful? Right-o, I’ll re-do the bloody review. I’m obviously such a buffoon that I can’t tell what speed a record is supposed to be at.
It now means that the ‘Trust’ vocal interjection which was at a normal man’s pitch is now sung by Barry White. Anyway the lead track drifts along in an okay manner. It’s okay, but just okay. It’s not doing anything not already done in electronic music. I’m enjoying the B side a lot, lot more. ‘Burnt Out Car in The Forest’ matches skittery beats with a chord sequence that recalls one of those Radiohead songs off ‘Kid A’ but then adds some lovely horns to the equation.
The final tune ‘CASYAM_59/#02’ is even nicer, a lovely soothing piece of Boards of Canada wibble that has almost reduced me to tears though pretty much anything can reduce me to tears these days. Quality electronica, B sides better than the A sides. “OMG Gold Panda, I love you!”, screams someone in the comments bit on YouTube right next to my “I’m terribly sorry to interject Gold Panda, but I most admire your B sides”. I’ve also raised the 12” one point for the label name, which I also like.
