- Hearing Colors by Eyedress and Skint Eastwood

Phil tells me this just got picked up by XL but here’s your chance to get your mitts on one of the original pressing of 300 on Beko before this blows up. It’s by Eyedress and Skint Eastwood, neither of whom I’ve heard of, who dish out a selection of carefully paced slinky tracks of minimal synth soul which will appeal to fans of people like Laurel Halo, Hype Williams or Mushy.
There’s often a kind of watery, distant feel with reverbed female vocals draped over the barest possible synth lines and tasteful programmed beats, giving it a dreamlike, disconnected feel which brings to mind people like Clams Casino and Balam Acab, but the prominence of the vocals kind of makes it seem like a pillowy, distant take on the off-kilter synthpop of The Knife or more recently Niki & The Dove. It’s luxuriously chilled out late night stuff - no surprises, just soothing, slinky slow-synth-house grooves to melt into.
