Today’s third split on this Famous Class series is from Thee Oh Sees and The Mallard, so we’re talking a warm Californian retro garage theme here. On Thee Oh Sees’ side there’s a bright psychedelic pop stomp called ‘Wait, Let’s Go’ with falsetto harmonies and strummy acoustic guitars. Really good stuff, it’s a total pop gem with shades of BJM and The Babies.

Flip it and The Mallard have ‘Over And Under’ which pairs a pulsating rock’n’roll beat with reverby vocals and guitar for a sound which seems to borrow a lot from ‘60s surf instrumentals while the vocals lend it a drifting, psychedelic indie feel with an eeriness that reminds me of Atlanta’s Deerhunter and Carnivores. Both super efforts here. None of the contributions to this series seem like offcuts, it’s totally been singles all the way so far.
