6/10 Mike Staff review, 01 March 2013

I saw this lot in London last year opening for the exceptional Motorpsycho and El Doom & The Born Electric. Now, in the context of a bill of that kind of calibre anybody would look mediocre, this lot certainly did and it’s hard to hold that against them, so I’m approaching this new 7” with as open a mind as I can.

Anyway, what they’re peddling is a bland of slightly glammy female-fronted progressive rock. The A-side is like a diluted take on the two aforementioned bands, maybe with a touch of Mars Volta in there too, but it’s let down by lightweight production, pedestrian structuring and a lack of memorable hooks or riffs, with the musicianship adequate but never dazzling. The B side sounds like the Dresden Dolls, which will please Dresden Dolls fans.
