8/10 Ian Staff review, 21 February 2013

A fun little 10” from The Kramford Look on the Wonderful Sound label which is steeped in ‘70s TV theme easy listening jazz, I’m normally put off by the amount of brass listed on the sleeve notes but this is just great, a nostalgic nod to cult soundtracks like The Saint, Get Carter and The Ipcress File!

Both tracks are split into four parts and are a variation on a theme, side A begins with catchy tickle of acoustic guitar and keyboard and then breaks into a flash of sax and trumpet a little like some of the earlier James Taylor Quartet stuff, it changes theme about every few minutes from opening credit like grandeur to pensive interlude, the second side sounds like the darker second half of this made-up movie they seem to be soundtracking with lots of whispered flute that builds into a crescendo with a strange duck quack sound! ‘Bip Bip Bip’ is a short cinematic piece of jazz kitsch for fans of Lalo Schifrin and cult cinema, crackin’ stuff!
