You all like weird records, right? Well here’s one of them now. My second of the day that falls into that “bonkers unclassifiable esoterica” bracket after I already had to try to wrap my head around that mammoth Ghedalia Tazartes reissue this morning. We’ve not been sent a press release with this and Phil says he can’t find anything on the internet about it anywhere and apparently he’s looked so that’s good enough for me. Mysterious record, then, and I’m essentially going in blind here, but there are a couple of names on the sleeve that tell me quite a lot - Brian Sullivan (one half of Mouthus) and Pete Swanson (one half of Yellow Swans, the whole of Pete Swanson) appear to be the two diabolical minds behind the enigmatic Beer Damage. See, now you’re listening.
Anyway, should you buy this weird record here and put your needle on it, you’ll hear all manner of jumbled and decayed audio-mulch of largely indeterminable origin, clattering and creaking its way around your sound-pipes like an arthritic robot centipede. Sparse, brittle loops of cut up squeaks and clicks and bloops form a steady wall of flickering chaos that’s strangely soothing and not as difficult a listen as I had initially feared. Madder than a box of frogs though.
