Here we have a super lo-fi reworking of Savaging Spires’ acclaimed debut album, recorded onto cassette huddled around one microphone this duo take us completely back to basics with these folk/psych musings. There’s no real specific track segments here, just side A and B of a constant flow of a bare acoustic jam-like sessions, it has a very DIY feel, almost like hearing them play a late night live set in your living room.
Various instruments and found objects have a lovely interplay with the likes of toy pianos, melodica and broken old out of tune guitars. The male/female split vocals work in perfect harmony in the same way that Halstead/Goswell did in Mojave 3 but this has a much more eerie warmth about it like early Animal Collective or the softer side of Black Heart Procession.
