Pissed Jeans are back! After three shitkicking albums there’s been a three-and-a-half year wait for this one but ‘Honeys’ is finally upon us, a welcome injection of grit and bile and unironic sweat-stained passion in today’s often torpid rock climate. They peddle a breakneck neo-proto-grunge noise rock sound that’s like Nirvana and Scratch Acid and Melvins and Black Flag and Shorty stuck in a blender with a brash, snotty swagger that’s all their own.

They’ve got Fudge Tunnel’s Alex Newport producing, as on the last album, and the sounds are just as beefy and crisp as that one. With the exception of the ominously chugging mid-set breather ‘Cafeteria Food’ it’s obnoxious and violent music, but also heavily groovy, with a visceral hypnotic feel which often brings to mind The Jesus Lizard - relentless rumbling bass grooves and snaking, trebly guitar leads. As previously there’s a great balance of abrasive noise and fist-pumping anthems throughout. There’s not much going on here that wasn’t also on their last album so I’m struggling to find a lot to say about it. I was a fan of that one and this sounds great to me too. You know what to expect from these guys and once again, they deliver. Unfuckwithable.
