We’ve got a lush but pricey package here on Time Lag from Joshua Burkett, which you can get either just as a 7” with handmade artwork or in a deluxe package with a 52-page book of illustrations and words. Delightful.

Anyway, on the record itself Josh’s acoustic pluckings get themselves involved in three unique collaborations. The first is a dreamy bit of folk featuring the ethereal voice of Lau Nau, then there’s some scratchy hi-gain electric guitar pluckings from Willie Lane which offer an excellent textural counterpoint to the smooth acoustic prettiness and is my pick of the three, before on the other side the legendary Thurston Moore provides a shrill dentist’s drill whistle and some queasy static for a track you’ll probably buy the record to hear and then only listen to once. Genuinely uncomfortable to listen to. Both songs on the first side are great though.
