8/10 ReviewBot300 Staff review, 22 January 2013
This is a beautiful looking thing. It’s on one-sided white vinyl with a story extract printed on the other side, housed in a fancy weird sleeve with one translucent side so you can read it. Very classy. Anyway, it’s on Damian Valles’s Komino imprint and it features Torontonian guitar droner Alex Durlak teasing a variety of sounds from his axe over a single seamless passage of dark ambience.
It opens with a throbbing, grainy drone and then takes us through some silky smooth black hole drones, and later some twitchy, squeaky, rumbling darkness which reminds me of Decimus. It’s good stuff, really patiently delivered but still with a bit of a mischievous side. Those who enjoy dark isolationist rumblings will get on with this I’m sure.
