9/10 Ant Staff review, 25 January 2013

This is the vinyl debut for Jar Moff and is my introduction to the artist whom previously has only released digital files. I've played this a few times now and it becomes increasingly interesting. Techniques employed are sample / collage/ cut and paste/ plunderphonics that never ease up on intensity, throwing a continuous barrage of strange and wonderful sounds into the mix to create an exciting and abstract soundworld where very little can be traced to the source save the odd free jazz bit. The sounds bounce around and get mangled all over the place. If this wasn't your bag and you were locked in a room with it on full blast I'd imagine you'd be trying to gauge your own brains out.

Although the construction methods are tried and tested, the results are something fairly unique but perhaps at time recalling the spirit of Nurse With Wound's more playful Plunderphonic moments and the surreal emissions of Ghedalia Tazartes. At just under thirteen minutes per side I'd say it was more of a mini-album than a long-player but by the time it's done I'm left satisfied and not really needing more. This is probably a good thing as if it continued for much longer my poor brain would probably explode trying to process the rush of information spewing at me through the speakers. Comes in the usual lavish PAN screen printed PVC outs sleeves. Top notch and totally crackers gear!
