9/10 gbar Customer review, 5th June 2017
Left Hand Path, the debut album by Entombed, mixed the relentless aggression and riffage of floridian death metal with a healthy dose of groove and a bit of experimentalism. The dark, macabre album cover perfectly foreshadows the music that's to come. The opening title track perfectly encapsulates the whole album, with its sinister keyboard strains, gargantuan wall of guitars and monstrous bellowed vocals contained therein perfectly blends together every aspect of this album into just one track. Other tracks such as "Bitter Loss", "Revel in Flesh" and "Supposed To Rot" has such a beautifully clear and dirty sound to them, you can see why this album is seen as a cornerstone of the classic Swedish Death Metal sound, and not only are they all quite catchy, but in both concept and music they are also extremely dark and sinister. There's a reason why many similar bands took inspiration from this album during the years, and when you listen to Left Hand Path in full, you'll understand why.
