I’ve spent the last week thinking I’m about to get ill, to the point of annoying everyone around me. Yesterday I spent 30 minutes in the same room as a man sneezing and coughing uncontrollably. But can’t tell anyone about what happened - I will be in grave danger of becoming a parody of myself. I wonder if its the same for for Kevin Martin when he’s making the same record over and over again as The Bug.

I mean he does it fine, he’s got a formula going thats been honed for a very long time. What we have here is mid-paced dub ragga dancehall with squeaky squiggly synths and female vocals that often sound like they have been plonked on top, having come from another session altogether. Halfway through it grinds to a halt, only to crack into life again this time with an added beat.

On the B side we get the same basic track but with a completely different vocal. I think I like this attempt better, the voice has more variation and emotion to it and the marriage of the words and music is a little more made in heaven. Still, anyone who likes The Bug’s previous stuff will love it - it will sound ace blasted out of some clanking old PA at some Chapeltown area summer shindig.
