8/10 Jack Customer review, 6th January 2015
The Welsh trio are back with the ambitious follow up to their breakthrough Big Roar debut. The indie/noise pop of Big Roar favourites like “Whirring” and “Chapter 2” are not as abundant on Wolf’s Law. They seem to have grown, the lyrics are more personal, the pianos ubiquitous and soundscapes that would impress Sigur Ros. Ritzy Brian’s lead vocals shine throughout and the guitars blast like atom bombs – notable on album juggernaut “Mow Mow Song”. The Joy Formidable have made the most logical step after the fun affair that was their first album, but I hope their serious side hasn’t fully overtaken yet.
