The CD single I have playing on the stereo right now is the debut release from Seashore, which features acoustic guitar, piano and vocals from Rie Mitsutake (who I’m not familiar with but who has released albums in the past as Miko apparently) and synthesizer, arrangement and mixing from a certain Will Long, aka Celer. It’s a fragile bit of barely-there pop with hushed vocals and twinklings on piano and guitar.
The second track is a slightly different instrumental version which has been fiddled about with by Terre Thaemlitz, while on track three there’s a slightly longer version in which DJ Sprinkles (wait, isn’t that Terre Thaemlitz too?) takes the track into more of a blurry ambient techno drone territory, adding some beats and a motivational speech sample to helpfully mix things up so you don’t feel like you’re just listening to half an hour of the same song. Very pretty stuff.
