- The Silk Line by The White Meadows

Here’s the second super-limited offering on Reverb Worship from London’s The White Meadows, a duo playing a peculiar brand of haunted neofolk-drone using tape loops, samples and field recordings alongside the more traditional sounds of violin and harp and recorder.
The compositions here ebb and swell mysteriously with echoing snippets of vocal keenings alongside weirder and more exotic sounds, steady harp twinkles, and violin which is sometimes panicky and sometimes serene. Our Kim said her last one was “a bit like going on an ear holiday to a museum”. I’ve gotta say I prefer the calming folky bits to the sometimes disorientingly busy abstract sections but there’s more of the former than the latter and even when it does get a bit grating it’s all pretty well executed and absorbing stuff.
