Some deep atmospheric work here from one half of Roll The Dice. I’ve opted to play this EP at 45, it sounds more enjoyable at this speed regardless of whether it’s actually the correct RPM-age! ‘Arss’ opens proceedings with a cool bassy metronomic beat that has this strange blunted distorted texture to the edges. Some mild metallic electronic discordance ricochets throughout this piece resulting in a stark rhythmic treat. This spread of minimal modular synthesis continues with an untitled edit that relies on pitched tones and queer skeletal rhythmical bursts. A cerebral track that could easily induce hypnosis.
The main feature on the flip sounds better at 33 so I’ve possibly broken all the rules again and done a John Peel. Who cares? Music should encourage individualistic response and action. This one relies heavily on a pummeling back-drop of android techno morse-code over which some superb modular glitch loops and bursts of marvelous metallic echo-decay rule the roost. Some amazing enigmatic sounds on here, like dripping mercury and space-shuttle hatch-burts. This is proper minimal techno, fuck Donnacha Costello and all those old boring douches.
