I just had an abortive attempt at reviewing a slab of mid-’90s techno, which really isn’t my area at all, so it’s a refreshing relief to be in more comfortable territory with this latest slab of bright and likeable indie rock from Rose Keeler-Schaeffler, aka Keel Her. I’m pretty sure the stuff I’ve heard from her in the past has been solo but this time round she’s enlisted a couple of friends to help out with drums, bass and guitar on these two excellently-named tunes.

On the A we’ve got ‘Riot Grrrl’, which of course doesn’t sound all that much like riot grrrl, instead being an endearing and catchy mid paced jangle-stomper with some cute little guitar lines that sound like Johnny Marr joined The Cure. It’s really good.

On the other side, ‘You Would Be So Grossed Out If I Did That’ has a hazy girl band feel which is reminding me a lot of that first Best Coast LP that everybody loved. So to sum up, this is a tremendously likeable indie rock 7”.
