Wow. This looks lovely! It comes in a transparent white paper bag and inside said bag is a CD, postcard, a booklet with a poem in and two pretend leaves (made out of material which means I can’t break them as easily like I did with a leaf that came inside something else we got the other day...).
Packaging aside this is a gut wrenching beautiful CD. It’s got strings falling out of its arse and from the off you’re transported into this world of beauty. Moult is on electronics and he’s ably assisted by five folks who are all playing violin or viola. It’s misery string city! Deep lush string sounds with minimal electronics in the background.
There’s some gorgeous arrangements on here and if you’re a fan of the sombre end of neoclassicism then this album will be right up your street. It’s a while since I’ve heard any classical music that is this rich and textured. Fans of early Max Richter, early Sylvain Chauveau take note!! A sheer delight!
