What do I say about this? It sounds like a radio-friendly cross between Faith No More and The Jesus Lizard, possibly due to the fact guitarist Denison used to add his own very distinctive brand of unease to the already terrifying sound of those legendary Chicago filth rockers and that old shit-in-my-support-band’s-orange-juice-carton/muscle jawed smirk-face multi-millionaire dude is on vocals too. Fellow noise-rock compadres Stanier and Dunn complete the four-pronged assault.
I gotta admit, I don’t like this that much but overall it’s a nice piece of tight, sleazy fun that’d totally kick it on MTV if MTV didn’t just screen appalling exploitative “real-life inspired” filler programmes these days instead of the brawny slabs of angsty tattooed-up raaawk (accompanied by migraine inducing quick-fire edit videos) they were throwing at us a decade ago. It’s catchy as hell too, so much so I do actually feel ten years younger after three plays, but not a great deal cleverer.
