Here’s the new EP from Component#4, aka Mike Rowley, a Wayside & Woodland regular cropping up on various people’s records and formerly drummer from The Arm. There’s six tracks on the EP itself and it comes with a download code for not only the EP but also remixes by Charles Vaughan, EL Heath, Field Harmonics, Ben Holton, Fieldhead and Arc Vel. Value!

Anyway, I won’t be able to hear those remixes because I’m just listening to the record, but what’s happening on here is very lovely indeed. Lots of drifty, blurred melodies paired with crisp and largely minimal techno beats, although they do get a bit busier and glitchier on ‘I Know Nothing’ and ‘Some (w)hole’ at the end, with the latter even having the EP’s only proper vocal line, albeit a buried and incomprehensible one, while on the first side I’m sure I was hearing traces of Hood in the bedroom electro acoustic melancholia.
