The Vaccines have been sticking the cast of EastEnders on their latest batch of singles to promote their latest album ‘Come Of Age’. Given the gritty paint job of the sleeve I was expecting some harsh lessons of life to be told via the medium of music on their latest plastic single ‘I Always Knew’.

I’m not sure how I’ve managed to avoid any records by these guys but I’m pretty sure I’ve only heard the first single (which I didn’t like) and then sneered at everything else they’ve released like some kind of sneery idiot. I don’t mind this single anyway. It’s got a chug chuggy snare military style beat, Smiths-lite vocals and a rousing anthemic chorus which you can join in by shouting at the top of your voice.

It’s pop. Nowt else... just pop and compared to most of the gash that’s in the charts I’d much rather this was in there riding high than just about anything else in there. Having said that I’d rather Flying Lotus or Goat were in the charts but you can’t have everything.
