Finally someone has a good reason for making ambient music. Tom Honey (Mr Airstrike) wanted to make music but suffers from tinnitus so he decided to create a collection of relaxing sounds to help with it all. Nice!

After his last album on Hibernate which was a success by all accounts here’s his newie ‘Lights’ on the Sound In Silence label which is limited to 200 in a fancy foldy carboard thing with a photo stuck to it. Nice! This is maximum floaty. It’s been on for a good 15 minutes now and I’m getting hints of Stars of the Lid and Eluvium...big hints in fact. It’s all done very well indeed.

I’m also getting the word haunting and there’s more strings and twinkles than you could shake a shitty stick at. It’s also kind of like the quiet bits in Sigur Ros records before the pompousness kicks in. I’m also getting the word sweeping. So in a nutshell it’s neoclassical twinkly dronework with pianos, strings and a general vibe of gorgeousness.
