Like buses, Fruits De Mer singles all seem to arrive at the same time. There’s three in this week and the one I’m holding is by Finland’s Permanent Clear Light with their single ‘Higher Than The Sun’ which I was hoping was gonna be a cover of the Primal Scream tune but it isn’t.

It’s packaged in a 3D sleeve with 3D spex and there’s a poster inside of the cover if you want to look at it bigger. Oh and it’s on a weird purpley tinged clear vinyl (the purpley thing might just be my eyes). Okay this is unashamedly psychedelic. It’s very reminiscent of Magical Mystery Tour-era Beatles and it’s catchy. Mainly cos the singer keeps singing ‘Higher Than The Sun’ and it’s gonna be sticking in my head all night. The middle eight is widdly like Pink Floyd and towards the end of the song they do the backwards music thing with flangey vocals just to make it even more psychedelic. I quite like this! The flip is a cover of Van Der Graaf Generator but I don’t know what that is.
