I knew this guy was quite prolific after recordings as Plinth and United Bible Studies but no-one told me he was half of the A Lords. No-one tells me anything anymore! I’ve loved the last couple of Plinth releases so I was eager to check out this cassette on Reckno which is limited to 100 copies and it includes a magic download code for those who are cassette challenged.

On this cassette you get seven tracks of music which was improvised on a broken Casio keyboard (which sounds fine to me). Lush choral echoes are filling my living room at the mo with sporadic tones and kranky noises. I’m sure I can hear some distant voices in the background? I don’t think they’re in my head.

I think this chap is supremely talented and he’s made some amazing bits of music throughout the various projects he’s done. This is the first recorded as Michael Tanner and it’s one of his more experimental releases. Now there’s a strange instrument being plucked at seemingly random intervals over the celestial vibes. All the tracks blend into one beguiling set seemlessly and it’s all really rather good. Highly recommended!!
