9/10 Brian Staff review, 01 November 2012
I cannot recall when I last heard Eternal Tapestry but I’m sure they were a great deal heavier, sludge-droney and mind-churning than this latest for Thrill Jockey suggests. Maybe I’m thinking of early Cave or Heavy Winged...and hey, worry not for this is so not remotely weakly diluted or un-trippy. Perish the thought.
This comes across sounding more in the vein of the great Kraut/Japrock jam-kings with a hint of the recent Sylvester Anfang gear, a large pinch of AMT at their most lysergic or even Sun Araw at their most heady and mind-expanding.‘A World Out of Time’ is a cosmic tour-de-force that leaves throbbing blisters on your mind, such is the power and intensity of their visceral psych-shredded guitar mayhem and wild acid-gobbling, free-rock ‘60s prowess. You’ll finish up rutting the neighbours dog dressed only in a grass kaftan, your body smeared with live yoghurt if you consume psychedelic drugs before listening to this record. The finest head-stover of the week.
