Liverpool’s reliable weirdpoppers Clinic are still chugging away, and here they present their seventh album, where they’ve enlisted Daniel Lopatin to help out with the mixing. The krauty elements of their sound, which have always been there, seem more prominent here than ever, but it could just be that I’m noticing it more because of the abundance of krautrock-influenced bands doing the rounds at the moment. There’s definitely parts which are reminding me of Can, Beak> and even Kraftwerk.

There’s a bit of a nonchalant, cool electrorock vibe in places that’s reminding me of a more psychedelic Trans Am; there’s weird buried wah-disco psych funk; there’s Spiritualized-esque repeato soul drift; it even gets a bit lounge-jazzy in places - but it’s all imbued with that warm, detached, carefully paced feeling that I get from Clinic records. Great band.
