I’m struggling to find much information at all about this mysterious CD by zK, the duo of Mark Godwin and Gareth Ormerod whose “approach is based on a singular concept; the revelation of the sympathetic core of each project through focused observation, interaction and listening.”

What this means for you at home in the comfychairs is that you get to sink into a lengthy excursion into graceful, burbling minimal ambience, opening with spare piano tinkles before drifting into throbbing analogue drones and slowly heading further out into the aether and teasing us into new and unexpected directions with blurred layers of intangible putters, chirping wisps of synth and garbled field recordings, sometimes heading into Paco Sala-meets-Plaid-esque late night cloudy-beats and electronic twinkles, elsewhere slowing things right down to grating, grainy drone swells coaxing out elegiac chord patterns over a distant transistor fizz.

It is, however, consistently minutely detailed and absorbing, skirting around the edges of melody and structure and developing an inviting yet dystopian soundworld to accompany you on your late night voyages into the depths of your psyche.
