8/10 Mike Staff review, 21 November 2012

Well it’s only evergreen garage rocker Billy bleedin’ Childish again isn’t it. I’ve just learned that this month his Spartan Dreggs are bringing out not one but three brand new albums, one of which is only available on mail order with proof that you’ve bought the other two. Wowzers.

Anyway, if you don’t already know what to expect from this fella then I’ll tell you, it’s quite simple, infectious ‘60s-inspired garage pop like if MJ Hibbett replaced Ian Svenonius in Chain & The Gang, maybe. No, more earthy and English than that, and B-side ‘A Shropshire Lad’ heads into weird, sloppy psychedelic territory, but it’s close enough and to be fair you probably a) already know what he sounds like and b) disagree with my description. Well go write your own review then.
