Finders Keepers are going all local on your ass and instead of digging up some crazy rare gem from Turkey from 1968 which never charted and was written by a horse (yet still sounds awesome) they’re bringing you some fresh local talent.

I use the word fresh in the loosest sense as the tunes on this and the forthcoming ‘Man Chest Hair’ comp were all from the ‘70s and it’s proper hard rock. ‘Hunt The Stag’ by Stack Waddy is a Sabbath-esque dirty rock tune with sludgey drums and big guitar riffs (before the inevitable solo kicks in).

The flip by Spider King is a much more groovy affair and is the treat on offer here. Spider Mike King was big in the Manchester DIY scene and he was mates with Martin Hannett (they eventually formed a band called Jacko Ogg). It’s a crazy tune somewhere between The Fall & The Silver Apples which are two bands I thought I’d never mention in the same sentence. The bass and drums drive it along with some intermittent keyboards and his ‘unique’ vocals. It’s a stormer of a tune and the single is getting five for this one!
