Great Pop Supplement have two singles for us this week, and this one here is by Nottingham’s The Soundcarriers, with three tracks of swirling ‘60s-influenced psychedelia. ‘Boiling Point’ has a slightly krauty feel that’s reminding me of a kind of lo-fi midpoint between CAVE and Goat, with a kind of Can-esque warmth to the gentle, organic, propulsive grooves. Then they take things down with the sultry BEAK>-gone-Canterbury hypno-clatter of instrumental ‘Eff.R’.

Flip it and we’re in synth-hippie territory with a weird wobbly bass groove, vintage organ stabs and backing vocals that remind me of the Prodigy’s ‘Mindfields’ alongside narration by Elijah Wood in the mystical ‘This Is Normal (Edit)’. It’s a really groovy, fun slice of psychedelia. Oh, and the 7” comes with a really cool-looking stroboscopic speed indicator wheel which is exclusive to this release too, which is a nice touch; very cool.
