Here’s a rare sight. It’s a Fennesz 12”! I don’t think I’ve seen one of those before. ‘Fa 2012’ is a remix of ‘Fa’ which was the debut track on 1997’s ‘Hotel Paral.lel’. 15 years later Mr Fennesz and Mark Fell both have a go at it and hey presto, bob’s yer uncle, yer mam’s yer dad, you’ve got a brand new limi ...

Here’s a rare sight. It’s a Fennesz 12”! I don’t think I’ve seen one of those before. ‘Fa 2012’ is a remix of ‘Fa’ which was the debut track on 1997’s ‘Hotel Paral.lel’. 15 years later Mr Fennesz and Mark Fell both have a go at it and hey presto, bob’s yer uncle, yer mam’s yer dad, you’ve got a brand new limited 12” on Editions Mego.

First up is the Mark Fell mix which is great. I find his stuff a little random and difficult sometimes but here he’s created a rich crunchy sounding electronic track with skittery (and very fucking fast) beats and an MLK sample which fits in rather nicely. It’s uniquely hypnotic and it doesn’t really sound like anyone else I can think of. But yeah, check out that beat cos it’s mental. The Fennesz mix on the flip is a a fuzzy dense layered thing with distant bass drum beats and it’s a beautiful piece of dance music. I was all set to just big up the Mark Fell side but I’ve ended up liking both tracks. Balls. I’m gonna have to have one of these!
