The final review before Christmas and we’ve just had our resident comedy customer in store. After forcing Mike to feed him a crisp [This actually happened! - Mike] he went on to announce that he’d have the taste of that lovely thing in his mouth all day. I’m sure I’ve had that said to me before. Oh ho ho, I’m two Belgian buns in and a bit giddy.

I bet it’s warm in Australia, not drizzling. Isn’t this the worst ever Christmas weather? Has the sun actually gone out? I think we should be told. Anyway from warm Adelaide comes Stacey Wilson aka Rites Wild. She does a bleak take on the kind of dreamy swoonsone electronica that is sooooo de rigeur darling amongst the the young hip people (I should know, I am one!).

She croons over dark electronics and drum machine in a dreamified take on the Zola Jesus signature sound, best heard late at night whilst clutching a hot water bottle. The opening track ‘Ways of Being’ is the best one with a nice...almost sweet melody and the weirdest hissy vocal effect. Imagine being hissed at by a particularly irascible gas pipe and you are somewhere close. This release collects her out of print cassette releases with some new songs in a swoonsome collection of drone/dream pop. Go get. I’m off for a Vimto and a sultana scone. Night Night.
