8/10 Brian Staff review, 28 September 2012
Concretes chanteuse Vicky Bergsman has released an album with Panda Bear in the past that she recorded in an inspired mood following a trip to Pakistan. This time it's the Hawaiian islands she's soaking up the vibe from in order to construct a sweet mellow album chock full of twinkly dubby cinematic pop full of balmy sounds, slide guitar, dreamy skank and yearning wonder.
Infused with tropical rhythms, delicious organic ephemera and wistful honeyed vocals, 'Other Worlds' is often a delight. It's the easygoing nature of the songs that puts you right in the mood for a lazy session of lolling in a hammock on a beach somewhere exotic and trouble-free. There's not a great deal else to say about this lovely record except that it could easily become a good friend in times of stress and strife in your life, these gently swaying, cheerily pulsating songs are teeming with good vibes and have a strange seductive spirit to them. You might fantasize about marrying this Swedish lady and deserting these shores for pastures new in the sun.
